Ludlow Castle First Impressions

Ludlow Castle was a major fortress from 1086 until the War of the Roses in the mid 1500's. It was "modernized" throughout the Tudor period and retained its importance through the late 17th Century when it was finally abandonded. Wall thieves stripped much of the castle to build houses, barns and what ever until the early 1800's when the Herbert family aquired the castle and stopped the destruction. These pictures do not nearly catch the impressiveness of the structure.
