Ile de St. Louis

The idyllic island, full of shops, restaurants, apartments and hotels-the quintessential Paris.
In the Dark and Middle ages both the lle de St. Louis and lle de la Cite were fortified with strong walls.  All that remains are small sections of the current retaining walls seen here.
The bell tower of St. Louis en I'lle.

St. Louis en I'lle is a small and beautiful church on the center of the Ile de St. Louis.
Traditional arched ceilings.
A stunning altar,
and a massive organ-as large as the altar, located at the far end of the church.
The oak doors are more than seven centuries old.
